Art Enrichment

Art Enrichment classes aim to cover a variety of approaches to art making and art appreciation.

The core values of art enrichment seek to help students:

1) SEE as an artist – developing observational practices and looking for influences in other artforms and places.

2) THINK as an artist – nurturing ideas, critical thinking, problem solving and explorative experimentation.

3) MAKE as an artist – develop and gain confidence in technical and practical skills, introduce new mediums with a focus on guided discovery and play.

In these tutorials, students will learn to use a variety of mediums and techniques associated with the fields of drawing, painting, and mixed media such as pencil (coloured and graphite), pastels, water colour, chalk, charcoal, collage, and acrylic paints, as well as exploring other mediums of student interest such as sculpture or ceramics.

Various techniques and approaches to the artmaking process will be the focus of each term.

The term overview serves as a guideline illustrating the mediums and techniques that students will explore any given week. Students will access tuition at their own level, pace, and areas of interest within the framework provided.
